Raul Ochoa 

Raul Ochoa joined the Wyoming State Geological Survey's Energy and Mineral Resources team in 2024. Originally from Texas, he received his B.S. from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and his M.S. in geology from Purdue University. He has multiple years of experience working in the oil and gas industry, focusing on both conventional and unconventional reservoirs across various basins and depositional environments. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Utah, specializing in sedimentology and stratigraphy, reservoir characterization, and basin analysis. Raul's background includes geologic mapping, carbon dioxide capture and storage, geothermal exploration, and paleontology. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, hiking, backpacking, live music, and home brewing.
