Kelsey joined the WSGS in 2018 as a project geologist on the the Energy and Minerals Resources Team. Her work is broadly centered on the geology of Wyoming’s energy and mineral industries, with a focus primarily on coal, uranium, industrial minerals, and critical minerals. This has allowed her the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects and mineral systems. She received her B.S. in Geology from San Francisco State University and her M.S. in Geology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she studied isotope geochemistry and magmatic processes. Before joining the WSGS, she was using her petrographic and analytical skills to characterize hydrocarbon systems, focusing primarily on unconventional shales. In her free time she enjoys gardening, cross-country skiing, mountain biking, and weaving.
